Hearing the call requires that you listen to inner movements and learn to sift God's voice from other voices. Perhaps more so than in the past, modernity offers so many paths to follow; hearing God's voice int he midst of all this life can be difficult. In particular, discerning a priestly or religious vocation can be a challenge, especially when others, event those close to us, may not be encouraging.
Candidates of the Priesthood should exemplify the following...
- A love for the Catholic Faith & Eucharist - Generosity - A desire to help other people - A personal relationship with God - A capacity and desire to learn - A respect for other people - Opens to other cultures and ethnic groups - Ability to work collaboratively - Good social skills - The ability to enjoy one's own company and a variety of friendships - The courage to take risks - A healthy self-image - The ability to state an opinion that might differ from that of others - Devotion to prayer & the Virgin Mary - A desire to continue to grow personally & spiritually

PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
Father, in every generation you provide ministers of Christ and their Church.
We come before you now, asking that you call forth more men to serve our Archdiocese in the ministerial Priesthood.
Give us Priest who will lead and guide your holy people gathered by Word and Sacrament.
Bless us with Priestly Vocations so that we can continue to be a truly Eucharistic Church, strengthened in our discipleship of Jesus Christ, your only Son.
Raise up, we pray, men who are generous in their service, willing to offer their lives and all their gifts for your greater glory and for the good of your people.
We make our prayer in the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, through Christ, our Lord.
